Card Condition Guide
At God Grade, we aim to provide clear and consistent condition descriptions so collectors know what to expect when purchasing cards from our store.
Near Mint (NM) at God Grade refers to pack-fresh condition, not guaranteed perfection.
God Grade primarily sells cards in Near Mint (NM) condition. Condition categories describe the overall visual condition of a card at the time of listing.
Because trading cards are collectible items, minor variations can occur even when cards are freshly pulled from packs.
Manufacturing Variations
Cards taken directly from packs may still contain minor manufacturing imperfections such as print lines, centring differences, small surface marks, minor edge wear, or slight corner whitening. These imperfections may occur during manufacturing or pack opening.
Cards described as Near Mint may still contain minor manufacturing imperfections even if they were taken directly from sealed packs.
These characteristics are determined by the manufacturer and do not necessarily affect the listed condition.
Printing quality and manufacturing standards may vary between different trading card games, sets, and print runs. Older cards or certain print runs may naturally display greater manufacturing variation due to age and production methods.
Card Handling & Storage
Cards are stored in protective sleeves and handled carefully to preserve their condition prior to shipment.
Cards should also be handled carefully after delivery, as damage occurring after delivery is not covered under our return policy.
Once delivered, responsibility for the card’s condition transfers to the customer.
Card Images & Scanning
Where possible, each card listed on God Grade will include its own individual image.
God Grade uses a dedicated card scanning system to capture high-resolution images that accurately represent the card’s true condition.
Scanned images are designed to clearly display surface condition, edges, centring, and imperfections with greater consistency and clarity than traditional photography.
As a result, minor imperfections such as print lines, surface marks, whitening, or centring variations may appear more visible in scans than they would under normal viewing conditions.
This increased visibility does not indicate additional damage, but rather a more accurate and consistent representation of the card’s condition.
For some older or sold-out listings, images may differ slightly in presentation due to previous imaging methods used at the time of listing.
These images remain a valid representation of the card at the time of listing but may vary slightly in lighting, contrast, or visibility of certain imperfections compared to current scanned images.
For listings containing multiple copies of the same card, a representative image may be used. Individual cards may vary slightly in centring, minor surface marks, or small edge imperfections but will match the listed condition category.
All listing images should be considered the most accurate representation of a card’s condition at the time of sale.
Any visible imperfections shown in listing images are considered part of the card’s condition.
Cards that are pack-fresh may still display minor manufacturing imperfections and remain classified as Near Mint (NM), even if visible in images.
We do not digitally remove, conceal, or modify whitening, print lines, scratches, edge wear, surface marks, centring, or any other condition-related characteristics of the card.
Background removal or minor visual adjustments may be applied for presentation purposes only and do not alter the card itself.
Lighting & Foil Cards
Foil reflections, colours, and surface marks may appear differently depending on lighting conditions, scanning output, screen settings, and viewing angles. Some surface marks may only be visible under certain conditions.
Holographic and foil cards may display surface lines or reflections that are more noticeable in high-resolution scans.
We make every reasonable effort to accurately capture each card’s condition using consistent scanning processes.
Due to the reflective nature of foil and holographic cards, certain surface marks may only be visible under specific lighting conditions or viewing angles and may not always be fully represented in images.
Buyers acknowledge that some imperfections may only be visible under certain conditions or when viewed in person.
Condition Assessment
Card condition is assessed under normal lighting conditions without magnification or grading equipment.
We do not assess cards under magnification or microscopes, and microscopic imperfections are not considered when determining condition.
Minor differences in condition interpretation may occur between collectors.
Condition categories such as Near Mint are not equivalent to professional grading scores and do not guarantee any specific grade from PSA, BGS, CGC, or other grading companies.
God Grade does not guarantee any grading outcome from third-party grading companies (PSA, BGS, CGC, or others), regardless of condition description or card appearance.
Condition is based on our professional assessment and may differ from individual expectations. Buyers should review images carefully before purchasing.
Near Mint (NM) Condition
Cards listed as Near Mint (NM) are considered pack-fresh and have been sleeved immediately after opening where applicable.
Near Mint does not mean flawless or perfect. Cards may still contain minor manufacturing imperfections present straight out of the pack.
These may include print lines, centring imperfections, small surface marks, minor edge wear, or slight corner whitening.
Any imperfections present on pack-fresh cards are considered part of the Near Mint condition and do not qualify the card as damaged or lower grade.
Cards are not graded and are assessed under standard conditions without magnification.
Graded Cards
Graded cards are evaluated by third-party grading companies such as PSA, BGS, or CGC.
God Grade does not control or influence the grading process, and grading outcomes may vary between grading companies.
Minor cosmetic wear to graded card cases, including scratches or scuffs, does not constitute a defect and is not grounds for return.
Condition Expectations
Buyers seeking cards for professional grading should review listing images carefully before purchasing.
By purchasing, you acknowledge and accept the condition of the card as shown in the listing images.
